World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King
One night while cuddling with Rook, he got up from the heavy silk sheets that I bought for his birthday last year, and he handed me my first copy of WoW, saying that it would be great if we could play together, since Rook doesn’t want to give Eve Online a try. Three months later, I have finally hit level 80, highest level attainable thus far in the game. Much to the dismay and frustration of my wife(yes, I have picked up one of those in the last few months) I spent all last weekend questing for the last few levels in the new expansion land, Northrend.
The storyline that has followed with this release is very gripping, and it shows and plays much better then what I have played through so far in the game. After completing some quests that result in some not-so-stellar(graphics wise) cutscenes, it makes the player feel like they are more a part of the storyline of whats happening. In the quest of retaking The Undercity, you get to see all the memorable characters do more then stand and look pretty; Thrall and Sylvanas most notably, who both fight alongside you while taking back the city, and Jaina Proudmoore also makes a appearance at the end of the quest as well.
Despite having a winter theme in Northrend, there are still very rich environments that you are taken through, some not having the winter feeling at all. You run into new flora and fauna, as well as a race of human/giant’s that look like they stepped off a viking longboat and are now hellbent on trying to kill you, of course.
All in all, it was tons of fun, and I hope that Rook will come see the wonders of WotLK with me some day.
