Dragon Quest IV Video
If you were lucky enough to own or play Dragon Quest IV, (I know it is “Dragon Warrior” in the US, but it is really Dragon Quest,) on the NES, then you know what an awesome game it is. I am happy that Square-Enix is giving it the remake treatment. I am also happy that they are putting it on the DS, because I am running out of games to play on that system. The video shows a lot of the gameplay. It looks like they have done a lot to stay true to the original game. The graphics are tons better and even the turn based fighting seems like it has been improved a lot. It is scheduled for release this year in Japan, and hopefully soon after in the US.

Worms: Open Warfare 2 | Review
I have been fan of the Worms series for a long time. I was very happy to see that they were releasing a follow up to the watered down Worms: Open Warfare we received a few years ago. The first thing I have noticed about this game is that the graphics are a lot sharper. I think that this was a good choice for the series, I was not a fan of the fuzzy graphics the first game had. Final Fantasy Retrospective
If you like Final Fantasy then you need to go check out these videos. The good folks of Gametrailers.com have put together a great history of Final Fantasy from the beginning to today. It is going to be a 13 part series and today they have reached the 8th part in the series, so if this is the first you have heard of it you have a lot of catching up to do. Each video is about 10-20 min of pure Final Fantasy goodness. These videos are some of the best “history” videos I have ever watched for a video game series. That is due in part to the fact that I am a HUGE Final Fantasy fan. I own almost every version of every Final Fantasy that has been released in the States.
Handheld Strategy: Week 2
Last week we talked about Luminous Arc and D&D Tactics, and while the former was fun, neither was a real stand-out. I promised looks at Jeanne D’Arc and Heroes of Mana, hoping to find among all four of these games at least one must have, and luckily this week we have a solid winner.
[PSP] Jeanne D’Arc – FIRST IMPRESSION: Great
I already had a small bias towards this title, having been looking forward too it since Stu pointed me in it’s direction back in May. I picked up the demo at Gamestop a month ago and it wasn’t disappointed. It hadn’t sold itself yet, but it was fun; and it looked gorgeous. The premise was a little nuts: some kind of Japanese video game take on Joan of Arc and the Hundred Years War. Apparently the English have allied themselves with the Demon King and Joan/Jeanne has inherited a magical gauntlet that lets her transform (a-la Sailor Moon) into some kind of badass. Whatever.
Summer of Grid
This is a crazy time for turn-based strategy enthusiasts like myself, at least those with either a DS or PSP. This week Luminous Arc, Heroes of Mana and Dungeons & Dragons Tactics hit, and next week is Jeanne D’Arc with Final Fantasy Tactics due out later this year. I’m a huge fan of the genre, but I often get burned for my eagerness to try anything; hopefully someone can benefit from my addiction, since I’ll still be trying all these new games. This week: Luminous Arc for the DS and D&D Tactics for the PSP.
Dragon Quest IX: Protectors of the Starry Sky [DS]
I have not played a Dragon Quest (or Dragon Warrior for those of us in the U.S.A.) sense playing Dragon Warrior IV for the good old NES. I still feel like that is one of the best RPG’s out for the console, and I wish that it would receive an update like other Square-Enix games have. But the fact that Square-Enix is bringing this huge franchise to the little Nintendo DS says a lot. The other thing about this game that makes it sweet is the huge amount of character customization. It is dropping on 11/20/2007.

Worms: Open Warfare 2 [PSP, DS]
The time has come again to gather your friends and family around you and prepare to digitally destroy thousands upon thousands of worms with British accents. In some news from THQ it has been revealed that they will be making a sequel to Worms: Open Warfare. This is exciting for all you handheld console owners out there because they will be releasing both a DS and a PSP version of the game.
