Devil May Cry 4 | Video
I just watched this trailer for Devil May Cry 4. It is on of the best trailers I have watched in a long time. It got me really excited for this game. One of the biggest reasons is that it seems to have a real storyline and not just a go to this castle, and fight this dark lord. Also the voice acting does not seem tacked on. You need to take the time to let the whole HD trailer load because it is totally worth it.
PSP God of War and Castlevania | First Impression
Finally, almost six months after I ordered it, my God of War demo came in for the PSP. This is about the time that the original release date was set for. Oh well, the industry is young and still immature and the companies involved are convinced they have to excite us years in advance to pull any kind of revenue, and the only way to excite us is to lie and make their release seem imminent. Regardless, the demo is at last here, and I’ll talk about it along with my recent purchase of Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles.
Trauma Center: New Blood | Video
I am excited about this game. I have been a big fan of the DS version for a long time. The best part of this will be the Co-op play. I think it will be fun and really help out on those difficult surgeries to have your friend giving you a hand.
Halo 2 | Review
[XBOX] Halo 2 – SCORE: 7.75
Highest Level Achieved: Campaign mode only twice, once the day of its release and once the day before Halo 3’s release; I played only on Normal, and only Co-op. But hours of online game time, days possibly.
Description: Halo popularity, but this time it went online. Xbox Live owes its life and current dominance to this game. Still Co-op through the story, except this time with awkwardly glitchy graphics during every cut scene.
While not an entirely unique game for its time if including PC titles, Halo firmly established the standard for console shooters from the speed and feel of the controls to the selection of weapons and multiplayer modes. And it’s not entirely surprising that it became such a standard, this is an amazing game had a drive to be the best. From the custom consoles to the promised sequels, Halo was not an underdog. Halo 2, however, was the payoff of all the set-up and marketing.
Portal | Review
[Xbox 360] Portal – SCORE: 10
Highest Level Achieved: Played through the game one time, and then beat the advanced levels.
Description: A first person shooter puzzle game. Yes that sounds weird, but thats what it was.
Portal starts out in a testing facility where you begin to learn how the portals work. as you progress, the tests of course get more difficult. To navigate through the different tests you have a portal gun that shoots out two different portals, a blue and an orange one. When you walk through the blue portal you come out wherever you the orange portal is. This is a very unique idea for a game that could have gone wrong, but it was amazing to play.
Super Smash Bros Brawl Gameplay
While I’m not a Smash Bros player (I stick with my Street Fighter and sometimes Power Stone) I can’t deny that it’s still a solid series and this game looks good. Good to hear that using the remote and Nunchuck is an option since the rumor was going around it was going to be using only Gamecube or Classic controllers, and I don’t really support the idea of the Wii not including what you need to play the key Nintendo franchises.
Brütal Legend, a new Tim Schafer game
Just got emailed a link to an amazing article from next month’s Game Informer. Don’t want to steal anyone’s thunder, so I’ll just post the link and let you check the scans yourself.
Conan and Final Fantasy Tactics
I picked up the Final Fantasy Tactics release for the PSP this week, in addition to the Conan demo for 360. There are parts about both that feel worth purchase, and at the same time a “wait a few years for a cheap used copy.”
[PSP] Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions – FIRST IMPRESSION: Great
Quickly, for people who have never played Final Fantasy Tactics: this is a grid-based RPG, like Fire Emblem or Shining Force or a million others (some recent released I mentioned in previous articles). Made by Squaresoft it has a lot of quality behind it and uses the best iteration of their Job system. It has a heavy political plot and lots and lots of menus, and is infinitely worth it’s time and cost. It was first released on the Playstation, with a distant cousin named Final Fantasy Tactics Advance coming out years later for the Game Boy Advance. This PSP version is essentially a port with a few new features like added anime cutscenes (with voice acting) and a re-written script.
For those of us familiar with the original, let’s get down to it:
