Random Battles In Modern Gaming

without comments

The need for random battles in video games has come under question in modern video games. A lot of gamers see them as an unnecessary throwback to an older and simpler time. There are gamers that say because of the more advanced systems of graphics and memory that we don’t need them. The most recent argument for this was found here.

Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters | Review

without comments

[PSP] Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters – SCORE: 8.75
Highest Level Achieved: Once through on normal mode
Description: A handheld sequel to the already fun and exciting Ratchet & Clank Series for the PS2

Ratchet and Clank move the the portable arena with this continuation to the Ratchet and Clank series and overall it was a good move. I really have to mention that I am very glad this was not some watered down port of an earlier game, and that it is an entirely new game with a new fun and exciting story line. The game really steps up with the dialog of the characters and that it has the same fun game play and humor of all the other games. Read the rest of this entry »

God of War II | Review

with one comment

[PS2] God of War II – SCORE: 9.25
Highest Level Achieved: Once through on Spartan (medium) difficulty.
Description: Sequel to the epic action original, twice as epic and action twice as intense.

God of War was amazing. God of War II is just as amazing. That is actually much more impressive than first glance might give it credit for. God of War was one of the highest reviewed games of all time and I loved it as much as everyone else, so my expectations of God of War II were dangerously inflated, even being conscious of this didn’t make the feeling go away.

The Bad Soda Scoring System

with one comment

When Bad Soda gives a game a score of “5,” it’s not worth playing. If it is given a score of “Kurt Russell” that means there are no more games in the universe and all has been eclipsed in a new Age of Awesome. Other than the latter exception, games are scored out of 10, using quarterly fractions. Games scoring 1-5 are crap, 6-10 are not. The decision to use the scale this way was clear, but not all gamers see it this way.

Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters | First Impression

without comments

I have not spent a ton of time on this game. Just enough to give a first impression on some of the more important factors, with a full review forthcoming. So far I have been impressed by this game. It picks up with the dynamic duo trying once again to relax a little after their latest and greatest adventure and has the same feeling as the PS2 games. A little girl approaches the team asking them if they can destroy some robots so she can take pictures, and the first level begins. It ends with the little girl getting kidnapped. As we all know Ratchet and Clank are not going to let this stand so they start off in an adventure to save the little girl.

Microsofts “Elite” Rip Off

with 4 comments

This week there has been confirmation of an all new Xbox 360 dubbed the “Elite” from Microsoft. This should be good news for the masses because it will offer upgrades to the current 360’s, but it also upgrades the price to make it quite a rip off when you really look at the stats.
